“Find A Way To Lead The Way”, was the first event that we organise ourselves to prepare us for the appointment ceremony. A few days prior to the event, Cikgu Harisah has divided us into 5 groups consisting of organizers, talk presentation, LDK, outdoor activities and action plan. It was a first for everyone so we relied a lot on teachers and the seniors to guide us.

Morning Workout

The event was held on Sunday, 6th of May. It kicked off with a national anthem and the school song, continued by a morning exercise led by the outdoor activity team. We bend and turn, kicked here and there, stretch up and down and finished feeling energised and ready for the day.

Next was the first talk of the day, “We’re All In This Together”. The aim was to teach us about working together. After that, we did a game for an ice-breaking session, The Red Strings of Fate, to get to know each other more.

Basically how it works is the person holding the ball of strings will say 3 facts about themselves and then throw it to whoever they want. The person who catches the strings will repeat the facts

and tell 3 facts of their own and repeat.

For breakfast, everyone contributed by bringing food to share with everyone. We ate cream puffs,  sandwiches and more. After we had our breakfast, we listened to another talk, “Boss vs Leader”. The talk explains of the difference between a boss and a leader. It was a very interesting and fun talk that makes you realise that you’d want to be a leader. The talk brings us to our next activity, Circle of Orders.

We were divided into small groups and in each group, someone will be chosen to be a boss and a leader. Those who weren't chosen will have to find who’s the boss and who’s the leader.

After the game, we had our lunch break and we eat, again! But this time with heavier foods. There was pizza, fried rice, noodles and etc. It was a very, very filling lunch. Our last activity was outdoor games.  Everyone's divided into 4 groups and in each group, there is a “supervisor”. Each groups are then to go to 4 stations and complete the games. The game was ice walk, acid walk, pipeline and stacking.

Lastly, was a self reflection time. It's where we evaluated on how we did, what our mistakes were and what we can do differently next time to improve. The event wasn’t as smooth sailed as we’d have liked it to be and there are moments during the events where everything was just… everywhere. There were problems in areas where we did not expect it to be, such as the computer not properly working with the projector, the games taking too long and others. From these, we learned to focus on every little details and to rehearse and check everything to make sure we are fully ready for the event.

While organising for this, we didn't just work, we laughed, we talked and we stressed out together. It has certainly made us become closer. So, perhaps that was the big picture set by Cikgu Harisah. It was not only to prepare us for the appointment ceremony and future events but  also to make us actually bond with each other, not just because we have to but because we want to.
